What are some things that constitute disbelief? - Shaad Ahmed

The answer to this question comes straight from the Qur’an and Sunnah.

From The Qur'an

"Whosoever does not judge by what Allah has revealed, such are disbelievers." (Surah Al-Maidah 5:44)

"And whosoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers." (Surah Al-Imran 3:85)

"O people of the Scripture! Now Our messenger (Muhammad) has come to you, explaining to you much of that you used to hide in the Scripture, and passing over much. Indeed there has come to you a light from Allah and a plain Scripture. Wherewith Allah guides him who seeks His good pleasure unto paths of peace. He brings them out of darkness by His will into light, and guides them to a straight path. They indeed have disbelieved who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. Say: Who then has the least power against Allah if He had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth? And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heaven and the earth and all that is between them. He creates what He wills, and Allah is able to do all things." (Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:15-17)

"Surely they have disbelieved who say, "Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary." But the Messiah said, "Oh Children of Israel! Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Verily whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the fire will be his abode. And for the wrongdoers there are no helpers." (Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:72)

"Say (Muhammad), ‘Obey Allah and the Messenger, but if they turn away, then Allah does not like the disbelievers." (Sirah Al-Imran 3:32)

From The Sunnah

Abu Hurarayrah (R) narrates Muhammad (S) said: 'By Him(Allah) in Whose Hand Muhammad's soul is, there is none amongst the Jews and the Christians who hears about me and dies without believing in the Message with which I have been sent, but he will be from the dwellers of the fire. (Sahih Muslim - Volume 1, Chapter 240)
